Great success and expansion occurs inside an independent contracting company that has a growth-oriented mindset and attitude. When independent contractors in the industries of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical embrace their strong potential for growth and build a plan-of-action to reach their goals then they are setting themselves up for amazing success. It is essential for independent contractors to realize the importance of breaking down their high growth goals into more manageable objectives in order to have the ability to successfully measure achievement. In today’s post, we are going to explore four essential yet practical and manageable components that can help grow your HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company to its full potential and excel your independent contracting company team towards success in the independent contracting world:
“G” stands for “Gauge”–
When working toward independent contracting company and team growth it is important to gauge the progress your independent contracting company team has made as well as gauge the progress you would like to work towards. When you gauge progress and assess potential alterations that need to be made then a proper evaluation of your company’s direction can be composed. When evaluations and assessments are generated, you can more effectively chart your overall course-of-action and layout your game-plan and goals in order to grow. Just as the saying goes, “If you fail to plan then you can plan to fail,” the same is true inside HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting companies. An independent contracting company becomes stagnant and feasible growth cannot be made without reviewing results, gauging progress, and created effective plans to grow.
“R” stands for “Role-play”–
Growth-oriented companies value the training they provide their employees and they also value training that includes interactive role-playing. When a new concept is taught that can increase service excellence, increase the likelihood of closing a sale, or increase the effectiveness of communicating options to a client then it is important that it is honed and perfected through role-playing before it is utilized in the field. When technicians, CSRs, and managers take the time and energy to practice new skills and techniques from within the safe environment of their company team then they will naturally be more confident and prepared when they must utilize the new skill while face-to-face with a client or on the phone with a client. Growing knowledge and developing experience comes from practice. When new skills, techniques, and procedures are practiced first on a regular basis inside the independent contracting company then the skills will come as second-nature when they need to bring real results and a independent contracting company can grow.
“O” stands for “Opportunities”–
HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting companies that value and implement training, as mentioned in the point above, also use their newly learned and practiced skills to seek out promising opportunities. Opportunities come in many shapes and sizes when it relates to HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting companies. Taking advantage of an opportunity could be noticing a client’s family portrait and creating a conversation in which you can directly relate to the client, an opportunity could be utilizing positive body language during the closing portion of your sale call, or an opportunity could even be strategically placing door hangers to create more time for a client to fill out a referral sheet. A team member that values the knowledge and skills that he retains from training will also be a team member that works to grow his personal success and the independent contracting company’s success through looking for opportunities to close a sale, strengthen service excellence, build rapport, and exude professionalism.
“W” stands for “Wow!”–
One opportunity that every independent contracting company team member should consistently seek out to grow is an opportunity to “Wow” his or her clients and prospective clients. This means going above and beyond the industry standard in order to bring about amazing service to your market. While this aspect deals with the internal growth of an independent contracting company it also deals with the external growth that your independent contracting company makes in your target market and surrounding community. When your team members look for opportunities to “Wow” then they provide amazing service excellence and strong, positive reputations are built when service is consistently outstanding. When your independent contracting company grows service excellence then loyal, happy clients become your marketing mouthpiece and this works to grow the overall positive reach of your company’s message to grow.
Effective and efficient company growth stems from these four important components: gauging growth, role-playing new skills, looking for opportunities to shine and flourish, as well as making a conscious effort to “Wow” clients. When an HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company in the independent contracting world focus on these types of skills then they naturally develop into growth-oriented independent contracting companies that value success and look for fresh ideas that will benefit and grow their company and clients.
