Systems and Processes in an Independent Contracting Company

By Todd Liles Systems and Processes in an Independent Contracting Company

It’s that time of year again! This is the best time to reflect on the previous independent contracting company business year and focus ahead on the upcoming year.  It’s the perfect time to put together your 2012 HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company budget as well as revisit, revamp, and revise your independent contracting company systems and processes.  There can be many changes in an HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company over the course of a year and it is important for managers to achieve greater personal organization as well as effectively lead their independent contracting company team by achieving greater independent contracting company organization.

In HVAC Spells Wealth, Ron Smith speaks about the importance of HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company systems and processes.  In chapter 8 on page 287, Ron Smith writes: “Processes and Systems, more than any other contributing factor, bring order and structure to a company.  Nothing frustrates a coworker more than not knowing for sure what to do or how the company wants it done.”   Ron Smith goes on to say that nothing contributes more to the following 4 important aspects of an HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company than processes and systems:

  1. “Higher profits”- In the industries of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical it is vitally important that technicians are properly trained on Key Performance Indicators within the independent contracting company as well as the goals that they are expected to meet.  When they are properly trained and informed on what is expected of them they don’t have to worry about taking a “shot-in-the-dark” but rather they can spend more energy and effort improving their communication skills and service excellence.
  2. “Sustained orderly growth”- When service technicians, sales technicians, and customer service representatives have been properly trained on the investment options within their independent contracting company and are informed of goals that have been carefully set by the management team; then efficient independent contracting company growth and service excellence can take place.  A business can quickly be thrown into chaos without plans and guidelines for an independent contracting company to follow.  But when growth is controlled and orderly everyone in the independent contracting company can move ahead with greater confidence and better understanding.
  3. “Customer Satisfaction”- An HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company’s level of order and organization is obvious to customers.  Over the course of a call, a customer will deal with two or more employees for your HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company and it is easy for them to tell whether or not everyone on your service team is on the “same page.”  When a customer feels that they have received polite, efficient, and streamline service from every branch of your company then it grows your company’s service excellence and customer satisfaction.
  4. “High coworker retention”- At the core of every person, we desire order and organization.  It is what makes us feel useful and productive.  The same is true inside an HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company.  Sales technicians, service technicians, CSRs, and managers want to feel that their job is purposeful and that their tasks are properly accomplished.  No employee ever wants to work in a chaotic independent contracting company, thus giving order and guidelines allows employees to be more at ease and confident in what they need to achieve.

Ron Smith’s four important contributing factors to systems and processes are basic yet vital to the health and growth of an HVAC, plumbing or electrical independent contracting company.  Revisiting your independent contracting company systems and processes over these last few months of 2011 can create a much smoother transition into the new year as well as prepare your team for success.
