The Problem With Planning Alone
Most owners plan. They think about the next quarter, the next hire, the next truck, the next market. They know what needs to happen.
The problem is that the plan lives in their head.
The team is guessing at priorities. Leaders are pulling in different directions. Good intentions stall by week three because nobody has a written target to hold them accountable. And the owner ends up redirecting everyone again. Instead of running the business.
A Planning Intensive changes that. In one or two days, you leave with a written plan your whole team understands, owns, and can execute without you holding it together.
What a Planning Intensive Is
A facilitated strategic planning session, run by a Service Excellence coach, for you and the leaders in your business.
The size of the room depends on your company’s size. Some owners bring one key person. Others bring a leadership team of four or five. The facilitation works either way. Because the goal isn’t a perfect org chart. It’s a clear plan that fits your business right now.
Two formats are available, depending on what you need.
Quarterly Planning — 1 Day
A focused one-day session that produces your 90-day sprint plan.
You and your team leave with clarity on what matters most this quarter, who owns what, how you’ll measure it, and what gets set aside so the priorities actually get done.
What you walk out with:
- A written 90-day plan with clear priorities
- Defined ownership for each initiative
- A measurable target for the quarter
- Alignment between you and your key people on what matters and what doesn’t
Right for: Companies that want a consistent quarterly rhythm of focus and accountability. Most companies running this well do it every 90 days.
Investment:
- Seat Holder: $7,875
- Non-Member: $9,000
- Travel included
Annual Planning — 2 Days
A two-day session that produces your year-long plan and the Q1 rollout to go with it.
Day one is the big picture. Where the business is going. What the year needs to accomplish. What has to be true for that to happen? Day two turns the vision into a working plan: initiatives defined, priorities sequenced, Q1 built out and ready to execute.
What you walk out with:
- A written annual plan with quarterly milestones
- A fully built Q1 sprint plan ready to run
- Defined ownership across your leadership team
- A shared picture of the year that your team can operate from, with or without you in the room
Right for: Companies setting direction for the year ahead. Most companies benefit from combining the Annual Intensive with quarterly sessions to keep the plan alive.
Investment:
- Seat Holder: $14,600
- Non-Member: $16,850
- Travel included
Who Should Be in the Room
The owner is always there. Beyond that, bring the people who own pieces of the business. Whoever is responsible for making things happen when you’re not directing traffic.
That might be your service manager, your office manager, your lead CSR, your ops person. It might be one person or four. The facilitation is built to work with your team as it actually exists. Not a corporate leadership structure you don’t have yet.
If you’re not sure who to bring, that’s a good conversation to have before you book. We’ll help you think through it.
Why Outside Facilitation Matters
When the owner facilitates their own planning session, two things happen. The loudest voice in the room is also the person with the most authority. That means honest pushback rarely surfaces. And the owner can’t fully participate because they’re running the meeting.
An outside facilitator changes the dynamic. Everyone can think. Disagreements get surfaced and resolved instead of avoided. And the owner walks out with a plan that the team actually bought into. Not one they nodded along to.
Quarterly or Annual — Which One Do You Need?
If you’ve never done a formal planning intensive, the Quarterly is the right place to start. One day. One quarter. One clear plan. See what it does for your business before you build a full year around it.
If you’re ready to set direction for the year and want the team aligned from January forward, start with the Annual and follow it with quarterly sessions to keep the momentum.
Most companies that do this well end up doing both.

Frequently Asked Questions
We already do planning internally. Why do we need a facilitator?
Internal planning sessions are useful. They’re also limited by the fact that the owner runs the meeting. That makes it hard to surface honest disagreement or hold priorities firm. An outside facilitator brings structure, neutrality, and accountability that an internal session rarely produces.
Can we really afford to take a full day — or two — away from the business?
The better question is: what does a quarter of misaligned effort cost you? One month of the team pulling in different directions costs more in time, money, and frustration than a single planning day. The businesses that plan well don’t feel like they’re losing time. They feel like they’re buying it back.
What if our leadership team is just one other person and me?
That’s fine. The session is built around your business, not a minimum headcount. Two focused people with a clear plan outperform five people without one every time.
Do we need to do anything to prepare?
Yes. Your coach will walk you through it before the session. Coming in with a clear picture of where the business stands financially and operationally makes the planning time significantly more productive.
Is there a follow-up after the session?
The plan is yours to run. If you want ongoing accountability and support to execute against it, the Growth Table is the natural next step. Growth Group for community-based accountability. Growth Partner for dedicated one-on-one coaching.
