The Problem With Running on Instinct
Most owners know when their business isn’t performing the way it should. They feel it in the team dynamics. In the meetings that go in circles. In the turnover they can’t explain, and the results that don’t match the effort.
What they don’t always have is a clear picture of where the breakdown actually is.
Instinct tells you something is wrong. The Organizational Health Check tells you what, where, and how serious it is – across every dimension of the business at once.
What the Organizational Health Check Is
A comprehensive business diagnostic delivered through the Innermetrix system and administered by Service Excellence.
Each participant completes an assessment that reviews 11 key areas of the business. Each area includes five indicators and is scored from 0 to 5.
A Service Excellence team member sets everything up for you, gives participants access, and walks you through the process before you begin.
Once everyone completes the assessment, you receive a detailed PDF report.
Delivered through: Innermetrix
Administered by: Service Excellence
Participants: Leadership team only, or company-wide – your choice
What You Receive
The deliverable is a PDF report compiled from your participants’ responses.
It includes a radar chart showing your scores across all 11 dimensions at a glance. It breaks down each dimension into its five indicators, with participant-level scores and an overall average. You can see where the business is strong, where it is vulnerable, and where the gaps between individual respondents are widest.
Those gaps are often the most important part. When the owner scores Leadership at 4.5, and the team scores it at 2.8, that’s not simply a data point. That’s a conversation that needs to happen.
The report is yours to review, share with your leadership team, and return to over time as a baseline.
The 11 Dimensions
The assessment measures performance across every critical area of the business:
- Personal: how do the individuals in your organization feel?
- Employee Alignment: is everyone driving for results and profit?
- Personnel: how effectively do you lead people?
- Team Effectiveness: how strong are your teams?
- Leadership: how trusted and inspiring is your leadership?
- Strategy & Planning: how comprehensive and secure is your strategy?
- Customer Service: how loyal are your customers?
- Sales & Marketing: does your message resonate and do your people sell?
- Operations: do you run efficient, high-quality operations?
- Cultural: how cohesive and beneficial is your culture?
- Management: how effectively do you manage things?
Each dimension is scored on a 0 to 5 scale. The scores tell you where you’re strong, where you’re vulnerable, and where the business needs immediate attention.
Leadership Team or Company-wide – Which Is Right for You?
Leadership Team Only
Faster to administer. Gives you a clear picture of how your leadership sees the business. Useful when you want a high-level diagnostic or when you’re not ready to open the assessment to the full team.
Company-Wide
More complete. When frontline employees participate alongside leadership, the gaps between how the top of the business sees things and how the people doing the work experience them become visible. Those gaps are almost always where the real issues live.
Neither choice is wrong. The choice depends on what you’re trying to learn and how much of the organization you want to involve. Your SE support team will help you think it through before you launch.
Confidentiality
Participant responses are compiled into scores. Individual responses are not shared with other participants. This matters because it changes what people are willing to say honestly.
When employees know their responses stay confidential, the scores reflect what they actually think. That’s the data worth having.
Do You Want a Coach to Walk You Through It?
The OHC delivers the data. If you want an SE coach to review the findings with you and your leadership team, present the most significant results, and help you build an action plan from them, that’s the Analysis and Review – a separate session available after the assessment is complete.
Most companies purchase both. See the OHC Analysis and Review.
Who It’s For
The Organizational Health Check is the right fit if:
- You can feel something is off in the business, but can’t name it clearly
- Your leadership team disagrees about what’s broken, and you need data to settle it
- You’re preparing for a planning intensive and want something real to plan against
- You’re about to grow, restructure, or make a significant change and want to know where the business actually stands
- You want an honest, outside read on how the company is performing across every dimension – not just the ones you’re already watching

Frequently Asked Questions
We already do employee engagement surveys. How is this different?
An engagement survey measures how employees feel about working at the company. The OHC measures how the business is performing across every dimension that drives results: Leadership, Strategy, Operations, Management, Culture, and more. Engagement is one input. This is the whole picture.
How is this different from the SE Growth Capacity Scorecard?
The Growth Capacity Scorecard is a free self-assessment that takes 15 to 20 minutes and gives you an immediate picture of where your business is: your growth phase, overall health score and top priority areas. It’s the right starting point if you want to quickly understand where you stand. The OHC goes deeper, runs across your team, and delivers a full participant-level report.
How long does the assessment take for each participant?
Most participants finish in 20 to 30 minutes. Your SE support team will coordinate participant access and timing with you before you launch.
What do I receive when the assessment is complete?
You receive a detailed PDF report. It includes a radar chart showing scores across all 11 dimensions, a breakdown of each dimension by its five indicators, and individual scores by participant. The report is yours to review, share with your leadership team, and use as a baseline going forward.
Can I buy the assessment without the Analysis and Review?
Yes. The OHC and the Analysis and Review are priced separately and can be purchased independently. That said, most owners find the report most useful when paired with the Analysis and Review. The report gives you the scores. The review tells you what to do about them.
What if the scores reveal something uncomfortable?
That’s the point. The value of the assessment is an honest read on the business: not a confirmation that everything is fine. If the findings surface something difficult, the Analysis and Review is specifically designed to help you work through them constructively and build a prioritized action plan.
How often should we run it?
Most companies run it annually as a baseline, or after a significant change: a growth push, a restructure, a difficult quarter. Some use it before every planning intensive to make sure the plan is built against current reality.
