Handling the “I Need to Talk to My Spouse” Objection

This week on the podcast, Chris and Chris talk about handling one of the most awkward objections: “I need to talk to my spouse.”

The “spouse objection” is one of the most awkward because it can’t be handled without the technician or salesperson being bold enough to get involved in that discussion between spouses. Some techs or salespeople see this is a sacred or private discussion in which they should not be involved. But the customer and their spouse need the expert. They need the expert to relay, impart, or translate the information. They need the expert to answer questions and handle concerns. If you are the expert, you must get involved. If you don’t, you’re leaving the customer on their own to figure out what to do. While the customer has the right to choose the solution, they aren’t qualified to choose the best solution.
